Draw the Line

Where will you draw the line?
At your front door or your funeral
At unreasonable search and seizure
Or interrogation through torture
Will you draw the line at
The corporatization of America
At economic strangulation through
Patent litigation, will you draw the line
At war-for-profit, the military-industrial complex
The vampire that requires
The blood of innocents to function efficiently
Will you draw the line when
Law enforcement demands
The laws cease to apply to them
When the only peace you have
Is your silence, refusal to acknowledge
The terrorists in Congress
The Jihad we've waged in
The name of Christianity, will you draw the line
Before you wash the blood from your hands
Before you watch the bombs drop
Or is it okay, if you can't pronounce their names
Does that somehow make them
Less than human?
Where will you draw the line?
When will you load your gun
And take aim at the ones
Who have waged war on us
When twenty-four hour surveillance is the norm
When they drape the flag over news cameras
But you can still hear the screams
Behind them
When incarceration is the first response
To insubordination, when protest is seen as
Unpatriotic, when all that's left of the dream
Is the fact that you're sleeping
Through it?
Where will you draw the line
And why, if you haven't the courage to keep them
From crossing it.
