Silently
Eyes grieve
The coming morning
Pooling thoughts
Down weathered causeways
Silently
Her children weep
Whittled to bones
Spooling thread
To stitch away tears
And cold granite
Stares unblinking
Shares a eulogy
Of solitude
And heavy steps
Crunch blades of grass
Past orchids and organs
Silently
I grieve
Crumpled notes
Share wisdom
We shake the devil's hand
Silently
We leave
Father, son, daughter
Cooling
Fresh-kilned hearts
And old passages
Remembered
Spare us nothing
But love's tomb
And dreaded steps
Draw the day to a close
Beneath bravest stars
To come at dusk
And stay through morning
Cold Luna waits out the night
As a wife
And mother
Mimics her, hiding when
We could see her most
Now her eternal sleep
Robs us of beauty
Even as we beg
A glance.
