Closing the Curtains

We fought the same way we kissed
Full of liquor and passion
And our bodies would cave in
We always gave in
Slaves to our favorite
Sensations

We drank like we had nothing left
We loved like we'd had nothing yet
And when the sun interrupted us again
We responded by closing the curtains

We wrought the fortunes we were sure we'd missed
Full of absinthe and expectations
And our hearts would lie so peacefully in
The beds we unmade
Graves for our favorite
Sensations

We drank 'til we had nothing left
Loved 'til we had finally spent
One morning too many
Closing the curtains.
