In the Valley of the Mountain

I have lived upon
The highest mountains
Swam amongst
The deepest oceans
Loved and lost
And kissed and fought
And still I
Live to love again
And I know my imperfections
As old friends
And I own my indiscretions
Each and every one of them
I have played the king and pawn
I have slain both dreams and faults
Though both live on, I'll be the only one
To stand trial for my thoughts
I lied in beds
Where better truths slept
But I meant what I said
And I'd say it again
Though to live with such passion
Has its own cost
To live without mine
I would certainly be lost
So I will live upon the highest mountain
Even if it means I'll fall again
Because to settle in the valley
I'd have to say goodbye to who I am
And should you hear I am lost at sea
Do not mourn for me
It merely means I've lived by my dreams
And thus beside them I will sleep.
