A night debating
The short shelf-life
Of the educated caterpillar
A little to drink and
A lot to think about
Under the condescending stare
Of a banana-pencil
Does this please your brain?
This war between the branches, I think
You were judicial, or maybe me
And how many cabinet doors were closed
How many dog hairs split over
An obsessive blanket
How many sentences ended
With the wandering caterpillar's punishment
Stomped out like a cigarette
On the sidewalk
There goes seven years
And a whole lot of debt
My gratitude to you friend
For teaching me how to live
The spontaneity of wandering genius spilt
Like the bitter wine we were drinking
A night debating life
Who changed every moment spent
In a world gone, but not for naught
'Cause my friend, the revelers have never
Forgot.
