Sail

I've seen oceans vast, from atop the mast
And crawled up from the floor
And maybe a glass or two have passed
From my lips to your cabin door
I've come up fast to catch my breath
And wished I'd stayed ashore
And maybe Sunday mass has passed
But what did we need forgiveness for
So we raise anchor, set sail
Set a course for right now
So we set a standard for raising hell
But we survived the storm somehow
Now stranded, seems we've struck sand
And we've landed unplanned
On this island, defiant, 'til the bitterest end
We could stay here awhile
Drink straight from the bottle
And no one would know any different
Two lazy-eyed lovers, gazing at each other
With one eye apiece on sep'rate horizons
'Til we raise two anchors, set sail
Set a course for black veils
Name this the island where lovers fell
And with a tear in our eyes
And the wind at our backs
We'll begrudgingly pay our respects
To the island where opposing horizons prevailed.
