First Light

For miles across her satin skin, bells rang
Torches sang their siren song of light
Echoing into her black silk sheets
Screams muffled by the distance between them
It's nothing now, the walls have bled their secrets
Dry, and our eyes have teared up for the last time
And maybe we have died of this, maybe it's a lie shared
Between our lips, when the mountains become the avalanche
That buries us in ecstasy, suppresses our empty promises
Until what we are is nothing we have ever been
A union of fire and flesh, a communion of desire and death
Come to take in, break apart these glass oceans
That would deign to hold us back, hold your breath
While the spirit sleeps, lest we wake the demons of the deep
For days swept 'neath her unmade bed, swells crashed
Against stony visages, along the ridges of commitment
To the depths of our regression, the expression of purest heavens
Whose lines behind us grow, with every heart laid low
By the killer in our bones, it's touching how
The fall has fed us dragons, and our skies have cleared the path
To flight, and maybe we grow fat from this
Or maybe we grow wise, for a swallow at her fairy lips draws
Blood from redlined eyes, I taste the river in your thoughts
Each drink keeps me absinthe-minded
And maybe it's a blind man's painting, maybe it's a funeral pyre
For the uninitiated, when the banks are eaten away
By the flow of the day, the rhythm and the sway
Of sex and dissension, where lesser men fade
And get carried away, to their unmarked shallow graves
But all along her sundered skin, the weak are hanged
And I, in the company of the silently strangling
Have not skipped a beat, have always found my feet
I, the unrepentant architect of dreams
Would not let the noose keep me
From the sirens who wish me sleep eternally
But undress themselves so eloquently
A lyrical extension of our ecstasy, to demand a morning's recovery
From the drunk in us, the intoxication of the blood
Beneath flesh magnetic, each breath ascetic
To save our strength for climax, divine and unsurpassed in
Any other moment, we will awaken the goddess
Shake the earth from her slumber
And take all that we have ever wished, that when morning comes
We will be undone, every sensation spent
For first light's introduction, 'fore we chase the sun again
Back across the western horizon.
