Intoxicant

I close my eyes, she takes my universe down
To atoms, breaks old bonds with each electron kiss
Each nucleic collision, I beg of her elements
To break me down, watch the energy transfer
From light to darkness, from the fiery stars passion
To the voids that keep them pinned
Against a blanket of sky, underneath which I
Am devouring all that is offered
A sacrifice at the altars of the flesh
Each moment's seeming perfection undermined by the next
I am escalation, ascension, the devil come to take you
To every end, I close my eyes
I take her purity down
To essence, swallow her as a drug, watch my vision swirl
And etch the image of her lying before me
Into my eyelids
Watch the heavens rain their tears, watch the worldly come to an end
As the clouds surround and scream aloud
Over the sound of humanity fading
She begs me take her now, to seize the swelling tides
And pull them to my lips, from the new moon's quiet hold
To the fullness of our passion
Addressed, undressed, and left aching
For the altered consciousness and heavy breathing
For the molecular breakdown preceding
The spiritual awakening we've been seeking
We close our eyes, tonight
We are free.
