Decay of the Blossom

Far beyond the hands of time
Where life had left behind
Only dreamers, revolutionaries
Who knew love like no others
Who saw the stars
Even on the most clouded of nights
She stood there, collecting flowers
And stares, a beauty as rare
As I'd ever seen, she smiles at me
While I sleep, I know
And I never want to go
Til bitter reality forces me
Til the late morning sun blinds
Through drawn curtains
I remember her eyes
How they danced with the fires of life
How the light rested pleasantly
Along her shoulders
How the worries of the day seemed
So far away, there was only her gaze
And my yearning, I swore I wouldn't turn away
For anything
Now I steal these seconds
Trade years of my life
For minutes, just to see her again
Far beyond the hands of time
We would sleep in
Keep this our secret
And never stray far
From these moments
Where I would talk of dreams
And she would silence me
With a kiss, her truth
Is my question, the stars look down jealous
That we've forgotten them
Known only this, we crowned ourselves
Rulers of circumstance, took each other's hands
And swore that it would never end
I remember, I miss the world
We lived in, and despise the morning sun
For disturbing it
Cry into the cold hands of fate
Who dared deprive us of the seconds
That gathered like fresh fallen rain
In the recesses of the imagination
And I watched her fade away
I fought the decay
Of her perfection, cursed any god
Who may have had a hand in
The desecration of our hideaway
Our sacred place, our heaven
Who took everything, and left me
To collect these flowers without her
Who placed this earth between us
And as recompense, gave only
This place where I lay them
To rest.
