Captive skies torment their brethren
Clouds who wander across azure deserts
Aimless, amorphous, as the day comes to close
Windows over their brittle fingers
Wandering stars celebrate the shadows
Who have ordered their closest kin to darkness
That we may attend to the desires of the distant
Light years dress in the fate of humanity
Divine secrets spilt like blood down the hands
Of angels, whose wings stretch across lives
And shelter us from sunlight, trap us in flight
From the living, accustomed to death, they share breath
With deities, who lament their failed trysts
At creation, sparkling waters echo across sediment-marbled monuments
Perfection, scream the gods before their canvas
Marred by the oily fingers of man, our sin
A filthy sheen coating the mirrors they gaze into
So the tirade begins, the march against
Intrusion, the presentation of illusion, where our
Greedy thoughts are ground into delusions
Of power, this hour, our reckoning
A shower of faith bathed in mercury
The rapture, you have captured the kings and queens
Now tethered to this dream, we will sink
With our vessels, along the veins of your rivers and lakes
Beneath the waves that follow the quakes
Captured skies, tainted with our poisons
The faint glow of coals burning beneath her
Holy dress, her punctured lung gasps
Have us heaving toxins at the flesh, leaving
Pock marks on the innocent
Earth, whose only faults lie
Beneath us, between us
Kiss her, give her reason, to spare us punishment
For our treason, if first you would press your lips
To the poison bottle, the world you've throttled
To unconsciousness, who lies so still, who cries with illness
Who dies in the grip of hands stained in the pollution
Of man's name, the dissolution of beauty
Our gravest trespass.
