Appreciating Beauty

I have known beauty beyond the canvas
Where sadness taints each brushstroke
I was born witness to a world
Where love defies the given odds
Where a whispered word begs the skies
To quiver with rain, where the thunderstorm
Plays her music, and the fire burns within
I have you to thank for this
I have known truth beyond what's spoken
Where temperance dissuades the courageous
I have torn pages from a book
Whose only scripture is a verse
Whose only meaning sleeps unheard
But screams against the pain, where the wonders born
Slay adversaries, and the feeling breaches skin
I have you to thank for this
I have tasted love within the plain
Where all may seem the same
I have shorn the worst in me
Where what remains to be seen
Where what dreams may come, come sweetly
To this place within the soul, where a lover born
States unequivocally, that life is defined by beauty
I have you to thank for this
I have lived beyond the corporeal
Where your touch is all that I feel
I have torn my bones from flesh
Where all that I have left is right
Where all that I am blessed with
Is the sight, where these dark skies of mine
Stay their course, and I ask no more
No less, than your soul upon the floor, undressed
I have you, your essence, the taste
On your lips
I have the world, to thank for this
And your beauty, to set me mute
For no words could express
Bliss, save this, I have you to love
All of you to thank
For this.
