Aside

I would like to dispel some common myths
That all too often slip from our tongues
When the common is the last thing
Needed
What doesn't kill me, doesn't always make me stronger
And even if the experience has some value
Or that value is great, well
I'd rather learn to shoulder the world
Under a weight worth carrying
You need to learn the difference
Between dreams and reality
Well, I disagree, I think for me
I'd rather spend my focus on getting the two to meet
I'd rather suffer the blisters on my feet
Than cease walking
I'd rather know what the sunrise looks like
When you've lived a lifetime since the sunset
And I realize it might not be
Conducive to the box you're trying to package me in
To the structure you so kindly try
To constrain me with
But I'd rather know what it means to be free
And that's not something you can fit
Into a thousand lifetimes, if you haven't learned yet
How to fit it in a moment.
