Death

I am Death, assuredly
My touch wilts once beautiful things
Peasants and queens shy away from my outstretched hands
Anxious stares await 'round every corner
Past lovers erase my name quietly
From between clasped covers
You look so beautiful in your wedding dress
Veil drawn across eyes that have long forgotten how to open
Oh love, have I taken too much
Have you not an ounce of blood to share with me
Anymore?
I am Death, assuredly
Come to cast shadows over all I ever adored
And you.
