Dear Humanity

Dear Humanity,
Who seems so distracted
Gazing in rapt attention
Upon the undefined
In trying to unravel
Some design from it

Here you are in
This vast emptiness
A speck of dust within a void
So great, it is all you'd see
If it weren't for you
Having inhabited it
Where electron journeys from proton
Within each atom of your presence
Light years in their proportions
Before they might meet another
And all that empty space
Comprises you
Remains unseen. unnoticed
For the glow of activity
Your tiniest pieces thrust
Upon the nothing
Here you are, insignificant
In proportion, yet undeniable in your
Distortion
Of the hollows you bound fervently
In
Where such vast bodies
As Helios, Jupiter
And Mother Earth
Communicate only in light-echoes
Across the oceans of space
Where even dear Luna only shows half her face
To you
Here you are as
Quarks, among the atoms of your known universe
Insects among
This grand celestial picnic
Yet a part of this you are
Beings among the stars
Travelling those light-years in your hearts
And minds, keeping time
To entropy
That among those countless stretches
Those inquantifiable recesses
You have come to exist
Is pure chance, and yet
That you have come to love
Those subatomic glitches
Betrothed to the same collection
Of circumstances as you are
Is a necessary condition
Without the noise in the picture
You would be
All alone
And in the vastness of my furthest reaches
You might never even
Notice
For even as individuals
You are constantly fragmenting
Littering your pockets of existence
With letters and thoughts and love
A beautiful thing, surely
That you have each other
To share the story of your imperfection
Your imperceptible impact
Upon these vast stretches
Of almost naught
Is all that grants you
Significance
It is you, it is love
That is all that prevails
Against the unending expanse
Of emptiness

With love,
The Universe
From her grand infinite
To her most miniscule of
Inhabitants.
