The Great Deceiver

I make my time, this
Tiny little face tells me
She's going by, I'll wait til tomorrow
To say goodbye, lover
Have you touched her since
The accident, the tragic kiss
The moment when hopelessness
Grew from bliss
Shadows coming 'round the bend, I'm
Holding the door, come on in
There's no time like the present
To acquiesce to these demands
Feeding the flesh, denying the rest
In our hearts could we have been
Any less, a testament to our success
This quiet confession of innocence
When all the world is coming down
Around her ankles, that black dress, who's
Funeral is this, a rhetorical question when I can
Taste the cold along my lips
Embrace her by the hips, bathe her in
Enchantment, watch the sky come back to
Wake us, the sun brings life to our lust, but
None too kind to warn us, that we're doomed to keep on
Distorting love, til our hearts won't fit in any box
Our scars will grow to encompass us
And they'll see they knew just what would come
Of me and you and being too young
To see the truth before it comes
I see her beauty just
As it comes, an innocent blue beneath
My fading colors, a vibrant hue next to
Her dying lover.
I make my time, this
Tiny little place tells me
She's waving goodbye, I'll stay 'til tomorrow
And then I'll die.
