The Wings of Monarchs

A free'r soul
You'll not see
Than those bound
By love
A true'r smile
You'll not form
'Cept when found
By love
And yet we craft
Chains from magnets
And yet we pass
E'ery exit
On the way
Gone
And yet we have
These prisons within
And yet we trap
E'ery hope
In tears long
Gone
A deeper hope
You'll not breathe
Than lungs filled
By love
A sweeter song
You'll not hear
Than those sung
By love
And yet we flee
From horizons
And yet we keep
E'ery moment
Of years long
Gone
And yet we sleep
Through swollen mornings
And yet we dream
E'ery hour
Of e'erything long
Gone.

And the skies would say
As you flee from horizons
That encircle you
You stand still
When you run away
From all that surrounds you
For we are not bound
By wall or chain
We are not trap'd
By fence or weight
But strapped to
Our own foolish desire
To get away
Anyways.

A free'r soul
You'll not see
Than one
Who embraces
The truth
That there are greater things
Than escape
That sometimes life
Lies seemingly chained
Only to find at the end
That those steel links reached
Everything you dreamt
That they held you strong
When you wandered
Over cliffs
That you could grasp them
And find your way
Home
A free'r soul
You'll not see
Than one
Who willingly faces
What binds them

A free'r soul
I've not known
Than my own
Upon falling in love
With you.
