Walls

She builds walls that
She dares not define
Jade, mortared with fine
Sandy memories
Not even the slightest crack
Where the curious could peek through
She builds walls that
None dare to climb
For the tear-slicked surface
Leaves no room
For even the strongest hearts
To grasp, seems they may last

Forever

And the base is littered
With eggshell-eyed corpses
Where hopes and dreams
Overrode common sense
And a cool breeze carries
That ocean taste over
Their unmoving lips, every time
She cries

She builds walls and
Dares you to try
I would die again
Just to remember
What it felt like
Falling.
